By all accounts, the New York Black Doll and Craft Show held on July 25, 2009 at the Riverside Church, South Hall in New York City was a spectacular success! We sincerely thank everyone who supported this show and have taken the time to provide us many kind words of acknowledgment and praise. This multimedia presentation illustrates the wonderful spirit of the show attendees, participants and the black dolls and crafts that, in the words of one show goer, were "shockingly beautiful!" This was truly a great day for all doll enthusiasts and collectors in the New York tri-state region.

I found out about the July 25th event late, but made it my business to attend. It was wonderful. So many talented vendors. I bought some items and am happy to have supported the event.

The crafts and dolls were wonderfully original. It was a joy to see such fine quality and one of a kind work. Please give us doll lovers a chance to see more. I went home with practically nothing left in my wallet.

This was the first time I had attended an event dedicated to Black dolls only. It was wonderful to see such a variety of dolls and such wonderful talent and creativity. The dolls created from gourds were amazing. I look forward to another show!

I loved the show. Unfortunately, I lost the card of the vendor that sold me the AA Mackie Doll and the "Best Friends" doll. Do you list contact information for the list of vendors that you've listed? Here are my items:

I missed the show, I would have loved to have been there! Hopefully me and my daughter will make the December show and definitely any NJ shows!!

I am glad that a friend gave me information about the show. I was looking forward to seeing all kinds of dolls and found that the dollmakers met all of my expectations. It was a pleasure to see the diversity of talent exhibited by the dollmakers. I also found the artists/vendors to be personable and helpful. I purchased three items and look forward to acquiring more at future shows.

Keep up the good work and keep us informed. I can only see this show and the number of dollmakers growing in the future. Thank you!

This was absolutely FABULOUS. So much talent. I purchased several items. And one of the vendors is a friend of mine, Dollistic Creations. It was great seeing her again. I bought her Ms. Harlem doll and I love it. (Her dolls are in the first picture.) I never considered collecting dolls though I had many as a child. Unfortunately, they did not look like me. I look forward to future shows and intend to bring my grand daughters with me. Truly AWESOME!!!

I attended the Black Doll show in New York City at the Riverside Church.

I was amazed at the creativity of so many black doll artist. The outfits, the facial expressions and artistic detail were so astonishing, and of course I did make a few purchases. I just want to thank all the artists who are contributing to the culture of our black heritage. Please keep up the good work, and I hope to continue attending future shows. THANKS AGAIN.

This show was wonderful. The energy in the room was bubbling with excitement. I felt like a kid in a candy store. It was such a pleasure speaking with an individual artist/vendor. Each doll that I fell in love with had a story. Black is truly beautiful. Thanks again for a great show.

Wow! Sure hate I wasn't able to attend. I have been to the one in Philly and Boston - it takes good planning to come from the West Coast to attend. I found out too late about N.Y. However, it would be nice to bring an all Black Doll Show to the West Coast. These pictures are beautiful. How can we contact an artist to purchase something? Thanks for sharing.

I am so sorry I missed this awesome event. I did have a chance to see some of the dolls here in Philadelphia in May but, I know that this event was beautiful.

Hopefully there will be an event coming around the holidays - rain, snow, I will be there. I won't miss it for anything. It is so good to see all forms of art and I mean this is gorgeous work. I have admiration for the Black Doll Makers out there.

I am pleased to inform you that we will be having an early December holiday show in the NYC area. The specifics are being worked out now and hopefully we can make a formal announcement later this month. If you have not signed up to be notified, now is the time to do it.

So start planning! We would love to see both of you at the holiday show!

I attended the show at Riverside Church (beautiful venue by the way). The show was great! The artists/vendors gave us some truly unique works of art to drool over! Thank you for bringing such a great show to the New York area!

This was my first time to see the show----thanks to Tonya from the BDC. I loved everything about the show, it was just great. I learned so much---everyone was so open and willing to share. It was wonderful---thank you.

I was a vendor at the show and truly enjoyed seeing all of the beautiful dolls made by other vendors. Their works of art were inspiring for me. Attending the show was a terrific opportunity to meet a lot of fantastic people (vendors and patrons).

Thanks Chris and Sharon! The show was awesome. It was evident that you put a lot of time and effort into bringing it together. The pictorial display of the dolls is mesmerizing. It is even more delightful to be able to read all of the fantastic comments that patrons have given. I look forward to your next show.

I attended the doll show. It was fantastic! I took business cards from several vendors I was interested in buying from. Unfortunately, I cannot find them. Does anybody have a listing of them? Thanks, especially to the lady that made the Spanish doll with human hair.

I would like to know if you give classes and if so when will you schedule another class. I am so very interested in learning how to make dolls. At the present I am making air freshner dolls and having fun, but would like to branch out into cloth dolls. Any advice would be appreciated.

I was a vendor at Sharon and Chris' first doll show and it was truly inspirational and totally awesome and I can understand you wanting to come on board! Fortunately there are several fantastic doll clubs in the greater NY/NJ/CT area, where we share and teach and have an all around great time!! Hi, I didn't know about the show but from what I seen online it must have been the greatest thing. I would like to know if you sell these dolls undressed. Please write me and tell me how I can purchase these dolls. Thanks, Marion Green.
