What are our memories of attending our first black doll show? Well, we walked through
the exhibitor aisles like wide-eyed children at an amusement park, each turn
rewarding us with innovation, craftsmanship and pride. Yet as we concluded our
circuitous tour, disbelief and anger began to bubble-up in our chest. “Has this been
here for years, decades or even centuries?” “How is it that we are only now finding out
about this?” “How is it that most of the public remains completely unaware of these
treasures?” “Something must be done!”
This was how our contribution - this web site, black doll show and event production - was born.
It feels great to know that we help to facilitate
a smile, a hug and self-identity. But more importantly, we want the public and the world to meet the
artisans, expert crafters, manufacturers and specialty retailers who enrich and sustain the tradition, the fantasy,
the identity that is the black doll. It is our mission to establish these types of shows and events
as the black doll marketplace for many years, decades and centuries to come.
As with anything in life, all of this is under continuous improvement.
That is why we welcome your comments, suggestions and constructive criticism.
And finally, from all of us at BlackDollShows.Com,
thank you for the many kind words of encouragement and support. It is greatly appreciated.
